Candidate Case Study – December 2005
Mark Rynhoud – SIG Flooring and Paving
SIG Plc is a major building product distributor in the UK, with a number of different specialist divisions. When SIG spoke to JAB about a new division distributing Flooring and paving materials, they were looking for a specialist salesperson to look after the South East region for them.
Adrian Felstead from JAB arranged to meet with Daniel Glater, Business Development Manager. Adrian took time to visit the first showroom in London. Daniel explained what the division wanted to do and what its goals were. Getting this intimate understanding of the company, the personality match and the job role allowed Adrian to find the best candidate. JAB had recently sourced Mark Rynhoud and Adrian knew that he would suit this role well.
Not only did Mark have relevant product experience; he also had the right personality. He was direct, assertive and very ambitious. He wanted to join an organisation where he could develop and grow as a salesperson. SIG Flooring and Paving was perfectly poised to offer him this as a new division, which would need someone to drive it forward.
Mark and Daniel met and both felt the other part had much to offer, with both having matching aspirations. At the second interview, Mark conducted a presentation in which he outlined how he felt he would conduct himself and manage the area and responsibilities. This underlined Mark’s drive and enthusiasm and convinced SIG that he was the man for them.
Mark was delighted – “Adrian was spot on, he listened to what I wanted from an employer and when he explained what SIG where about and what they wanted, I knew it was for me. It’s a great job with a superb company.”
Daniel is equally happy – “We knew we needed someone with some get up and go, being a new division for us, it was always going to have to be someone who had massive natural drive. Mark has started really well, and I am sure he is going to be very successful.”
